My Approach

In order to get the most out of therapy, it’s so important to find a trusted therapist who will meet your unique needs. Your therapist should have a personality you feel safe with, and a therapeutic style that feels comfortable to you.

At Footprints Forward, I create an inclusive, accepting environment where you are encouraged to be your true self.

**Sessions are offered either in person or online where we will address presenting issues and adhere to a treatment plan that we develop together to target your goals.

**We will discover and address problematic patterns related to how you perceive yourself, your relationships, and the world around you.

**We will work to capitalize on your strengths and your capacity for resilience.

**We will make meaning of the past, sharpen your skills for coping with the present, and prepare you to achieve a future of increased wellness.

Treatment is individualized using empirically researched techniques such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Goals look different from person to person, but generally include some combination of the following:

  • Exploring thoughts and feelings related to your experiences

  • Creating a customized coping skills tool kit

  • Learning and practicing effective communication skills

  • Establishing healthy boundaries with others

  • Discovering ways to tune into and prioritize your needs

  • Assertiveness skill building

  • Identifying strengths to bolster self esteem

Additionally, collaborating with caregivers can be invaluable, so family sessions and/or consultations with your school or healthcare team may also be part of your treatment plan when appropriate.

Remember, therapy is a lot like a road trip. Ultimately, you are in the driver's seat, so you control the direction and speed of our work together. I will help you navigate towards achieving your treatment goals, and I will always have extra fuel available on days when you're running low. The road to healing may feel bumpy at times, but learning new things along the way and seeing how far you've traveled will make the ride worthwhile.
